Backup & Disaster Recovery
A backup that ransomware can also encrypt is not a backup. We build backup and recovery programs that assume the worst — modern ransomware, insider mistakes, hardware failure — and are tested regularly so you actually know they work.
The modern threat model
Ten years ago, backup was about surviving a failed server. Today, the primary threat to practice data is ransomware — malicious software that encrypts your files and holds them hostage. Ransomware authors specifically target backup systems, because a practice with a working backup doesn’t have to pay the ransom.
What we do
Immutable off-site backups the production environment cannot write to or modify. Multiple retention tiers for fast recovery and historical restore needs. Coverage mapping documenting what’s backed up, how often, and where. Regular restore testing — we actually test restores. A documented recovery runbook for real incidents.
Microsoft 365 backup, specifically
A common misconception: Microsoft 365 backs itself up. It doesn’t — at least not in the way your practice needs. Microsoft ensures the service is available; it doesn’t guarantee you can recover a specific mailbox from 90 days ago. Third-party backup for M365 is part of our standard offering.
